SARAH HILZINGER: With a background in both international development and global sourcing, Sarah Hilzinger is passionate about creating more efficient systems for consuming natural resources and manufacturing consumer goods around the globe. She is currently a Fulbright grant recipient located in Tel Aviv, Israel, where she is assessing the market for the transfer of environmentally sustainable technologies from Israel to China. Ms. Hilzinger holds a B.A. from Colgate University and, while researching with her Fulbright grant, is pursuing an M.A. in Environmental Studies from Tel Aviv University’s Porter School. Sarah’s column explores the ways in which Israelis are rethinking methods of managing, consuming and recycling natural resources.
JAMIA JASPER: Jamia Jasper, an expert on Israel investing, is the founder and portfolio manager of the American Israeli Shared Values Capital Appreciation Fund (AISHX). Jamia provides occasional market analysis for IsraelStrategist.com
KARINE KLEINHAUS: Dr. Kleinhaus is an Assistant Professor at New York University School of Medicine. A full-time researcher with funding from the NIH, she has published over 25 scientific articles, collaborates frequently with colleagues at Hebrew University and Tel Aviv University, and speaks to a variety of audiences about her research and related topics. Dr. Kleinhaus received her MD from Tel Aviv University, her MPH from Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health, and her BA, cum laude, from Princeton University. She is particularly interested in Israeli innovation in biotechnology and medical devices.
LYLE PLOCHER: Lyle Plocher is the founder of www.buypropertyinisrael.com, a website that provides information in English about the real estate buying process in Israel as well as the latest Israel real estate news. The site also serves as a Real Estate Portal, featuring current property listings throughout Israel for all budgets. The property listings are posted to the site by cooperating, licensed Real Estate Agents in Israel. Lyle’s column provides insight into the buying process in Israel and keep the reader informed about market conditions and the latest Israel real estate news and trends.
MANUELA ZONINSEIN: Manuela is a Brazilian-American freelance journalist based in Beijing. She writes mostly about transitions to a food system that will permit humanity to thrive on earth into eternity: particularly low-impact eating and sustainable agriculture. She is especially interested in agricultural technology exchange between emerging markets, namely China, Israel and Brazil. Her interest in this subject inspired her to establish AgriGate.asia, an online information resource about Sustainable AgTech in Asia.
Manuela has reported from Greater China over the past four years, primarily in Beijing and Taipei, for Newsweek, the Engineering News-Record, ClimateWire, New Scientist and Monocle. She was dining editor of Time Out Beijing and Asia Bureau Chief for Dell, Inc., helping to oversee the launch of takeyourownpath.cn.
Fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, Manuela expects to always be an advanced student of Mandarin, and is currently supported by a Blakemore Fellowship in this endeavor (and having previously been supported by a HuaYu Scholarship and Princeton-in-Asia Fellowship). She holds a Master of Science in Modern Chinese Studies from the University of Oxford and a BA (Honors) in Social Studies and Latin American Studies from Harvard University. Manuela’s column focuses on Sino-Israeli cooperation in sustainable tech.
