18 October 12 17:17–The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) fell today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index fell 1.32% to 1,217.26 points, the Tel Aviv Index 100 Index fell 1.26% to 1,079.03 points, and the BlueTech 50 Index fell 1.77% to 335.44 points. Turnover was NIS 1.95 million.
The TASE indices fell strongly today, in line with a mixed day on European markets and losses at the opening on Wall Street. The Tel Aviv 25 Index was unchanged for the week.
In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked government bonds rose by up to 0.2%, but long-term Galil CPI-linked bonds fell by up to 0.1%. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index fell 0.13%.
In the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate at NIS 3.809/$, up 0.45% on yesterday’s rate, and set the shekel-euro representative exchange rate at NIS 4.991/€, up 0.27%.
In the stock market, Mellanox Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:MLNX; TASE:MLNX) fell 22.1%, after publishing a disappointing guidance, for the biggest loss among Tel Aviv 25 shares, on the day’s biggest turnover of NIS 465.2 million. Its high-tech peers on the index, EZchip Semiconductor Ltd. (Nasdaq: EZCH; TASE:EZCH) and NICE Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: NICE; TASE: NICE) fell 2.5% and 0.6%, respectively.
Oil Refineries Ltd. (TASE:ORL) bucked the market with a gain of 3.2%, followed by a 2.1% gain by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA).
Mizrahi Tefahot Bank (TASE:MZTF) rose 1.7%, following reports that it wants to torpedo the delisting of HOT Telecommunication Systems Ltd. (TASE: HOT), which fell 0.3%. Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) fell 0.2%, on reports that Shlomo Eliahu was selling NIS 200 million shares worth of shares, while Migdal Insurance and Financial Holdings Ltd. (TASE: MGDL) – the reason he is selling the shares fell 0.8%.
