Haaretz: Better Place founder and CEO Shai Agassi ousted by board
Oct.02, 2012 | 2:47 PM–In a surprise move, American-Israeli electric-car company Better Place announced on Tuesday that its founder Shai Agassi would be replaced as CEO by Evan Thornley, the current CEO of Better Place Australia.
“Five years ago I followed a vision to wean the world off oil and its dependency on it, and last month I drove across the state of Israel in an electric car, from Dan to Eilat,” Shai Agassi said following the announcement. “Very few people get to transform such a complex vision into reality in five years.”
In his statement, Agassi said he was proud of the developers of the electric car he had envisioned, saying he is convinced of their capability ‘to take the company to the next level.’
Accepting his appointment as CEO, Thornley said: “four years ago Shai Agassi offered me to join Better Place and bring the company’s vision also back to Australia. I am honored to be named global CEO of the company and to lead this fine group around the world.”…Read More>>
