Globes: Inflation rears its head: CPI up 1% in August

14 September 12 14:23–Inflation is back, and in a big way. Israel’s Consumer Price Index rose by 1% in August to 106.2 points compared with 105.1 points at the end of July, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported today. A rise of 0.6-0.7% had been expected.
The largest price increases were in cigarettes (14.2%), fresh produce (7.9%), culture and entertainment (2.0%), transport (1.8%), housing (1.1%), food (0.9%), and furniture (0.6%).
