09.07.12, 14:01–A large delegation of Israeli businesspeople, led by Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz, will leave for New York on Saturday evening to participate in an economic conference aimed at encouraging investment in Israel.

The conference, which begins Monday, is being organized by the Finance Ministry and the Information and Diaspora Ministry in cooperation with the Wall Street Journal.

Finance Ministry officials rejected criticism over the cost of the delegation – about NIS 4 million (some $1 million), which will be funded by the Finance and Information ministries.

“A single potential investment in Israel in these difficult times will cover all costs,” one of the officials said.
