Globes: Sun: Telcos boost market
26 August 12 17:17–The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) rose today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index rose 0.26% to 1,112.27 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index rose 0.25% to 986.99 points, and the BlueTech 50 Index rose 0.54% to 334.90 points. Turnover was NIS 431.4 million.
The TASE rose only slightly today, despite a strong opening, in line with gains on European markets and on Wall Street on Friday.
In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked shekel government bonds rose by up to 0.1% and long-term Galil CPI-linked government bonds rose by up to 0.2%. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index fell 0.05%.
In the foreign currency market, the options pointed to a 0.04% dip in the shekel-dollar exchange rate, compared with Friday’s representative rate, to NIS 4.024/$ and a 0.13% decline in the shekel-euro exchange rate to NIS 5.037/€.
In the stock market, telcos continued to take center stage. Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR) rose 3.3% for the biggest gain among Tel Aviv 25 shares, and Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) rose 1.7%, while Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) rose 1.3%.
Tel Aviv 100-listed HOT Telecommunication Systems Ltd. (TASE: HOT) rose 13.9%, after its controlling shareholder, Cool Holdings Ltd., announced an offer to purchase, in an effort to delist the company. Partner’s controlling shareholder, Scailex Corporation (TASE: SCIX; Pink Sheets:SCIXF) fell another 18.4%.
